Dan Kinsinger is a versatile, freelance musician, audio engineer, and educator based in Canton Ohio. He has over 25 years of performance, recording, and teaching experience, is proficient in a broad range of musical styles, and productive in any performance environment. A lifelong resident of Canton, Dan is a graduate of McKinley High School and Malone University. He has performed with a variety of local and regional groups ranging from jazz and orchestral ensembles, to traditional rock, pop, and funk groups. Over the years Dan has received awards for his playing from the Ohio Music Education Association, as well as the International Association of Jazz Educators. In addition to providing private drum & percussion lessons, Dan also serves as the world drumming and guitar instructor for Kidz BEAT!, a community program providing area children with instruction in musical performance.

Philosophy of Teaching Statement
Music is an indispensable form of human interaction, providing a means of emotional connection, expression, and inspiration for both musicians and listeners alike. While passive enjoyment of music is commonplace, actively creating music is a much more intricate interaction that requires the alignment of emotion, intelligence, aptitude, and character. It is precisely these attributes that an accomplished teacher must invoke, nurture, and impart; instilling in students the ability, passion, and confidence that motivates lifelong learning and success. As an educator and mentor, I seek to thoroughly understand each student’s goals and desires, providing guidance that fulfills these expectations, while at the same time demanding development in areas critical to their overall growth as a musician. I also strive to ensure a safe, comfortable, and inspiring environment in which students feel free to express themselves, and participate unreservedly in the learning process. Ultimately, student success is gauged not only by the fulfillment of learning objectives, but also by the relationships, opportunities, and personal development enjoyed through membership in the artistic community. It is my belief that every student possesses the opportunity to succeed, and my purpose to guide, inspire, and support them in accomplishing their goals.
