Speed Up Your Hands

Here's a great exercise to help increase your hand speed. Start out slow and work up speed over time. This is also a great warm up to help loosen up the hands.

Have fun!

Hi Ron,

My interpretation would be to lead all flams with the right hand. When you start speeding up you'll notice how the exercise is isolating and pushing that side. Once you've mastered right hand lead, switch the entire exercise to lead with the left.

I tend to practice exercises any and all ways that make sense. Playing alternating flams in the 2nd measure, or leading the flams with the left hand uncovers different, albeit equally important challenges. Adapting an exercise to help improve upon your specific goals is an important part of improving as a musician.

Enjoy!
